Caucus system was viewed with great disdain by the people
before 1824 because it was considered a very undemocratic form of system. Many people
revolted against this system and justifiably so. In most cases the caucus of
members of the congress would choose the nominees of the political parties. This
system did not allow any chance of voting or nominating. The full power was
with the caucus members of the congress and they mostly were partial. This
policy was then also known as “King Caucus”.
