  •    The upper and middle region of the back is where the thoracic spine is found.
  • The thoracic spine contains twelve vertebrae, labeled T-1 through T-12.
  • T-1 through T-5 nerves affect muscles in the upper chest, mid-back, and abdominal muscles. Each number on the spinal column corresponds to the nerves that run through that region of the spinal cord.
