The steps to be followed in the process:
- The FHR and uterine activity should be evaluated before initiating the infusion.
- Uterine contractions are induced by oxytocin.
- To ensure a secure induction, check the client's pulse and blood pressure every hour.
- Consciously keep an eye on FHR and uterine contractions. A contraction should last no more than 70 seconds, happen no more frequently than once every two minutes, and be no stronger than 50 mm Hg. Every 15 minutes during active labour and every 5 minutes during the transition, the FHR must be monitored and recorded.
