We know that the time to play each song is the same.

We play 8 songs.

Hence,

song+song+song+song+song+song+song+song = 28

... 8×song = 28

Dividing by 8 on both sides:

... song = 28÷8

... song = 3.5

Hence, the time taken to play each song is 3.5 minutes.
